Which stove option suits you?

A wood burning or multifuel stove suits homes where there is a sound chimney or a suitable flue route, and where you want the feel of a working fire. It needs proper planning around the opening, hearth, chamber and ventilation. If the house already has a fireplace, this can be a good way to keep the character of the room while making it more useful.

A gas stove gives a real flame with easier day-to-day control, but it still depends on the room and flue. Gas work is handled by Lewis, who is Gas Safe registered. An electric stove is simpler again: it can suit rooms without a chimney and can give the look of a stove in a cleaner, lower-upkeep way. Bioethanol sits between those worlds, with a real flame and no flue, but it still needs to be chosen and positioned sensibly.

Beams, hearths, chambers and panels

The stove itself is only part of the job. The hearth under it, the chamber behind it and the surround around it decide whether it looks settled or squeezed in. Because we make stonework in our own Midlands workshop, we can cut the fireplace elements to suit the stove, the wall and the finish you want.

A beam gives the top of the opening a stronger finished line. A stove hearth protects and grounds the stove. A chamber lines the inside of the opening, while a hearth and panel set can create a cleaner fireplace face for gas, electric or stove installations. Each piece is cut to measure rather than chosen from a fixed range.

We can make these in the same stone, micro marble and porcelain finishes used across the rest of the Sontuoso Stone range, with the proportions confirmed around the stove, opening and room. There are no standard sizes or set prices here because the work depends on the survey and the material chosen.

What you can see in the showroom

At the Solihull showroom, you can compare stove styles, stone finishes, hearth shapes and fireplace proportions. Bring photos of the room and the existing opening if there is one. If you have no chimney, we can still talk through electric and bioethanol options. If you do have a chimney, we can discuss what needs checking before a wood, multifuel or gas route is confirmed.

The showroom is also useful for scale. A stove that looks modest online can feel very different inside a real fireplace. Seeing the body, legs, door style and hearth together makes the choice more practical.
